There are tolls for national roads in Bulgaria. A vignette stuck on the windscreen is the proof of payment. The vignettes are available at border crossing points and gas stations.

There are no problems with renting a car in Bulgaria. All European car renting companies [Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt] have their departments there.

- Polish and international driving licenses are accepted. It is prohibited to give own automobile to a Bulgarian citizen for use or drive an automobile belonging to a Bulgarian citizen unless in possession of notarized power of attorney granted by the owner.

Public transport
- Buses - Buses are the main means of transport. The network includes all towns and cities. The buses run regularly and frequently, and the tickets are cheap. The tickets are sold by the driver or at bus stations.
- Trains - The train tickets are not expensive. A train travel from Sofia to Varna takes about 9 hours.
- Hydrofoil boats - Available in seaside resorts and by the Danube. It is definitely lots of fun.
- Taxi - There are many companies in Bulgaria. The drivers charge according to taximeters – taxi rides are relatively cheap. The charges are slightly higher between 10 pm and 5 am.
