there are two varieties of foreign grapes, which ripen late, seven of them are medium rare and four are rare ripening.

late ripening:

    Rkatzitelli
    - a white variety of grapes, very popular in Bulgaria. The leaf is delicately cut and curved. The bunches are medium large. The grains are medium large, round. The skin is thin, stringy, golden with brown spots. High quality dry and sweet white wines are made of this variety.
  • Uni Blanc - a white variety of grapes. Popular in the area of Burgas, Shumen and Varna. The leaves are large. The bunches are medium large and medium cramped. The skin is medium thick and stringy, yellow and green with small scattered spots. Dry white wines are made of this variety.
medium rare ripening:
 
  • Riesling - Riesling comes from Germany. It is popular in the area of Ruse, Razgrad, Shumen, and Varna. The bushes are of medium growth rate. The flowers are hermaphroditic. The leaves are medium large, round. The bunches are rather small, cramped or medium cramped, 60 – 90 g. The grains are small, often deformed because of the density of the bunch, round. The skin is medium thick, stringy, green with waxy coating and dark spots, thin, delicate. Riesling grows on sandy soils of low humidity levels. The variety is resistant to low temperatures. It needs medium or long cuts. The Riesling variety is used for making high quality white dry wines.
  • Aligote - a medium fertile variety, of medium osier growth. Comes from France. The flowers are hermaphroditic. It is popular in the area of Razgrad, Burgas, Shumen and Varna. The leaves are medium large, curved. The bunches are medium large or small, very cramped, of 100 – 120 g. The grains are small, round, green, very thin, yellow when ripen. The pulp is juicy. It is used for making high quality white dry wines.
  • Tiamanka - a white variety of grapes. It is popular in the area of Vraca, Haskovo and Vaarna. The leaves are medium large, slightly curved. The bunches are small to medium, medium cramped. The grains are small and round. The skin is thick, yellow with small spots. It is used for making high quality white wines of strong aroma.
  • Traminer - a white variety of grapes. It is popular in the area of Shumen, Tyrgovishte and Sliven. The bushes are of medium growth. The flowers are hermaphroditic. The bunches are small, very cramped, 100 – 120 g. The grains are small, often deformed because of the density of the whole bunch. The skin is pink and stringy. This variety is resistant to low temperatures and reaches high sugar levels in hot and dry summers. It is used for making high quality white dry wines of strong aroma.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon – a red variety of grapes. Popular throughout Bulgaria. The leaves are medium large, almost round, jagged. The bunches are small and cramped. The grains are small and round. The skin is stringy, dark blue to blue and black. It is used for makin high quality red wines.
  • Sauvignon Blanc - a white variety of grapes. It is popular in the areas of Ruse, Razgrad, Shumen and Tyrgovishte. The leaves are large, the bunches are small and cramped. The grains are small and round. The skin is stringy and green. This variety is used for making high quality white wines.
